Advantages Of Bicycling With Children

Written by Nancy Sathre-Vogel on March 14, 2010 – 1:49 pm -

Travel is the best education a child can get. I’ve been a classroom teacher for 21 years and, although we do the best we can in the classroom, we are limited by those four walls around us. By getting out and seeing the world first hand, children will have a much deeper understanding of the world around them.

There about a million reasons why travel in general is good for kids, and a million more why traveling on bicycle is even better! Here are some reasons why I believe travel (by bike) is great for kids and parents!

* Persistance. In today’s society, it is all too easy to give up too early. Kids aren’t taught to stick with something even when it is hard. On a bike tour, you will go through tough times and kids will learn – when they reach the top of a steep pass or reach Grandma’s house after battling a head wind all day – the value of sticking with it and not giving up.

Written by Harry Constantine on March 14, 2010 – 1:38 pm -

Golf is perhaps the latest elite sport and fitness activity to take the fitness circles and sporting enthusiasts by storm. Almost every other individual, wants to become a golfing enthusiast or at least an amateur player and it is a good way to meet up with friends and colleagues in the weekends and enjoy yourself, while keeping yourself fit.

An ideal golf swing exercise is often a joy to behold. However it is not too hard to attain.

The perfect golf swing drill begins with a proper back swing with the golf club swung right back to the limit of your body. Only at that segment of the perfect golf swing punch your brain should be preparing for the rotation of your body and also the arm extension.

Next, the movements of the perfect golf swing drill moves to the down swing, which starts with the lower part of the body, including the legs and hips. A transfer of weight will take place from back to front with the knees, thighs and hips all moving forward.

The perfect golf swing drill ends with the body weight on the outside of the front heel and the inside of the rear foot.

A Memorable Baseball Turn Of Events That Remains A Classic

Written by Al Casilla on March 14, 2010 – 12:09 pm -

One of the most unforgettable, craziest nights in baseball history took place over 23 years ago and many fans still remember it. Red Sox fans probably to this day want to just forget about it while Mets fans keep the great memories alive I am sure.

The New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox met in a World Series during the 1986 baseball season. Both had been the best teams in their respective leagues, and the stage was set for a great series.

To the surprise of many, New York lost its first two games at home, going down pretty easily to a confident Red Sox team. Things didn’t look too promising for the Mets and their fans.

Fortunately, the team’s fortunes turned during the next few games and the Mets evened the series before falling behind by a 3 games to 2 count. Game 6 would give the Red Sox a chance to close out the series in Queens.

It looked like this was about to occur. Boston led the game by two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning and the Mets had no one on base. The champagne bottles were corked and the game was all but done.

Hybrid Bike Schwinn Midmoor

Written by Simon Johnson on March 14, 2010 – 11:48 am -

I am really lucky with the bicycle Schwinn Midmoor Men’s Hybrid Bike. The bike is stable but comparatively light. If anybody’s searching for a step up from a primary ride-it-sometimes bike, this one is fantastic. If you’re still only going to ride it sometimes, then why bother?

It’s a little heavy to be called a road bike, which is probably why it’s not, and I’m still wondering why exactly there needs to be a suspension (which must have added a fair share of useless weight). Also, the handlebar isn’t as adjustable as most would like, and if you’re 6 tall and one of those people who likes their legs to be fully extended when pedaling, it might not be possible on this bike. Frame feels very solid and strong, yet lightweight aluminum. After a professional tune-up (and the 2 components above replaced), the bike is handling great.

The shifter is a solid Shimano gearshift (but not their greatest of course, this is a $240 bike). The gearing changer is a standard Shimano touring, but still a Shimano. Really easy to assemble. It is mostly gathered at the base. You will need to have the brake system and gears aligned, and the wheel trued.

What Sort Of Discount Golf Bag Should You Get?

Written by Graham Williams on March 14, 2010 – 11:25 am -

For the avid golfer, very few accessories (other than a genuinely terrific swing) are generally as important as a discount golf bag. When you have at your fingertips everything required for your round, you can easily relax and focus on striking the ball and having a great time. There are lots of choices in discount golf bags available to choose from, let’s quickly look into some and begin to narrow down the field.

“Pro” Type Discount Golf Bag or “Practice Bag?”

In the event you play loads of golf and you like to walk, you may want to consider adding a practice bag to all your equipment. Practice bags are very lightweight, so that they do not wear a person out as much throughout the round of golf. Current models are available in many long lasting fabrics which will stand up to years of continual use.

However, for those who normally ride or make use of a pull cart, you’ll find nothing much like the convenience along with “class” of a full size, pro-style discount golf bag. Several full-featured bags also double as golf travel bags, which is super practical for that true devotee who will not go anywhere with out their clubs.

Cowboy Boots Are The Hottest Thing In Fashion

Written by Alexander Stone on March 14, 2010 – 9:49 am -

Boots have been around for several centuries and the primary reason for wearing boots was for horse riding. In the days before the industrial revolution, boots were hand made and there were several different styles. The styles changed from country to country. Cowboy boots were influenced by the vaquero design that originated in Spain and is still used in some parts of Mexico.

The industrial revolution allowed certain styles of boots to be mass-produced, especially for the military. The cowboy boot is said to be also descended from the Hessian boot, a boot style that was common among cavalry in Europe in the 18th century. Cowboys at one time were under paid and therefore a cheap model called the Wellington boot was mass produced and it was used until the 1860’s.

In the late 1800’s the income of cowboys improved because the price of meat increased. Now with better disposable income at hand, cowboys started shopping for boots that were better in quality and design. With this new trend the Wellingtons slowly went out of style. It was also in this time that the classic cowboy boots with higher heels and stylized stitching came about.

What’s the Best Fuel for Refillable Lighters?

Written by Brian Mallikarjunan on March 14, 2010 – 8:45 am -

The fuel used on one’s lighter goes a long way toward determining both the performance and the longevity of the device. When one purchases a high-end refillable lighter, such as a Colibri torch lighter or a liquid-fueled refillable such as a Zippo, it makes sense to protect that investment by making certain only the highest-quality materials are used to actually fuel the device.

Making certain that one gets the best flavor starts with how the cigar is lit. There are various means of doing this and some cigar smokers have very strong preferences for and against certain means. The most controversial way cigars are lit is with liquid-fueled refillable lighters.

Butane lighters function best when a lighter fluid which is as free of impurities as possible is used. There are brands that advertise themselves as having zero impurities and, if one has purchased a high-performance lighter, these fuels will ensure reliability. Impurities cause lighters to light with less reliability, to foul and, eventually, they may compromise the components that deliver gas to the jet. They will also cut down on the life of the sparking devices as they’ll have to be tripped more to get a flame out of the device.

How To Get A Lawn Tractor

Written by Eddie Simms on March 14, 2010 – 7:31 am -

Lawn tractors are generally tiny tractors intended for farm work up to two acres. There are a number of attachments to the tractor, which can reduce your manual work quite considerably. This could help you employ your available time effectively in working on your garden in trim condition all year round. Lawn tractors are flexible items of kit. They can do a large amount of roles like cutting, ploughing, lawn rolling, lamp post hole digging, and lots of other roles that need to be done around the farm or home.

These roles are made possible through their power take off shaft. This makes lawn tractors one of the gardener’s very best friends.

Purchasing a lawn tractor is much like purchasing an auto. The price of a second user model is far less even if there’s not much more wear than being driven out from the show room floor.

Consider the tractor you are buying very diligently. It is sometimes recommended that you try the tractor for yourself and get an idea about the time required in attaching and detaching the various accessories. Test-drive the tractor, and try and get a feel of getting out and in of tractor. Just taking it for a test spin, does not imply you have to get it there and then. Resist the pressure, and consider your options carefully.

The Pros and Cons of the George Sherrill Trade

Written by Nicholas McMillan on March 14, 2010 – 6:12 am -

Upon first hearing the news about the Baltimore Orioles and the fact that they traded their closer for two minor league baseball players, I was very surprised to hear the news. It really seemed like they gave him away for nothing in return. I knew nothing of Bell and Johnson, and wasn’t happy about it.

Fortunately, my mindset has shifted a bit since looking more into the players they received in return. Of course it would have been nice to have received players who can make an immediate impact, but Bell and Johnson both look like pretty promising prospects.

There was no point in trying to contend for a 2009 playoff run. Way too many teams stand in the Orioles’ way, especially the Red Sox and the Yankees, both over 15 games ahead of Baltimore.

It makes sense to build some more toward the future. The team certainly has some pieces in place (i.e. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis) to build around.

The Orioles will most likely lose 36-year-old Melvin Mora to free agency after season’s end. If they don’t lose him, he’s aging anyway and he’ll soon need a replacement.
