Written by Ben Shepard on July 31, 2010 – 1:40 pm -

12 Golf Shots identified into the following types of shots:

Approach: – Any ball hit from the fairway to the green is termed an approach shot. as a rule this is taken with a proper iron for the distance required.

Chip Shot: – A shot obviously played from extremely close to the green, without using a full swing and are usually played with a 6-, 7-, 8- or 9-iron or pitching wedge. They are frequently engaged as short approach or distance lay-up shot, or a shot to get the ball out of a hazard.

Draw Shot: – A shot that transpires when a right-handed player curves the ball to proceed from right to left. This shot is often played intentionally by competent golfers. When a shot has a number of draws or draws inadvertently it is referred to as a hook.

Drive Shot: – This shot is as a rule taken from the tee, but in some conditions can be taken from the fairway. The purpose of the drive shot is to move the golf ball the ultimate length expected towards the green. An amateur golfer may drive the ball 200-250 yards. However, professional golfers expected to achieve drives of 300 yards or more. A driver is the farthest hitting club and is also known as a wood.

Police Find Drugs In Man’s Football Boots

Written by Tom Doerr on July 31, 2010 – 1:21 pm -

Cumbria Police stopped and searched Stephen McRoy after a local resident tipped them off that he had been acting suspiciously in the area, they found a pair of football boots in his bag, which is not unusual for a young man, but inside them was a hoard of class A drugs including heroin, cannabis and ecstasy.

The officers swiftly arrested McRoy and charged him with possessing drugs with intent to supply, he pleaded guilty to the charges. The court heard he was spotted loitering near Haverigg prison last year when the authorities were notified.

When the police found him he was standing on a pavement and claimed he was waiting for a friend, at which point he was attempting to contact someone on his mobile phone. The officers were suspicious and searched a drawstring bag he was carrying; inside they found the boots which were filled with a variety of small plastic packets containing the drugs.

It was revealed that McRoy had intended to deliver the drugs, which had a street value of over 2000, to Haverigg prison. Inside prison they would be worth closer to 15000. Drugs are often thrown over the fences of prisons and sold inside for huge prices. McRoy had been paid 300 to deliver them to the prison.

Michael Vick To Suit Up In Green Bay?

Written by Fernando Roman on July 31, 2010 – 9:22 am -

The Packers have gone on record by saying they have not ruled out signing free agent Michael Vick. It has also been reported that the Packers are considering signing Vick to a contract. While I am not a big fan of Vick with the dog fighting and beating the Packers on Wild Card Weekend in 2002, he could be a good asset to an already good offensive team. He could add that extra dimension that the Packers are looking for. Here are the pros and cons for the Packers if they sign Vick.

Pros: Michael Vick is a weapon, plain and simple. In addition to his status as a quarterback, he could easily be used as a running back in certain situations, and at the wide receiver position as well. He’s genuinely one of the fastest players in the game, and the Packers playbook could see a major boost with both Vick and Aaron Rodgers on the field at once.

Vick would also serve as a capable backup to Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, who is great in his own right, but is always prone to injury. Any team would prefer to have an experienced, talented backup at quarterback to an untested second-rate football player.

Jump Higher For Basketball

Written by Jake Lowe on July 31, 2010 – 9:04 am -

Have you been trying to jump higher but lack results?
Have you come to realise your game could be much better?
Do you feel your athletic abilities could be far better?
Yes?

Those extra inches to your vertical leap, muscle gain and pace around the court is much closer than you can imagine.

This could be the season that the gains and improvements you have been working so hard for is going to happen.
But…
Most often the superiority and court domination you strive for just does not realise…

Why?

Not because you aren’t a good athlete.
Not because you don’t want it enough.
And not because you aren’t willing to dedicate yourself and your time in order to get results in return.
No. Your problem isn’t any of this.

The most common pitfall is simply that athletes get lumbered with incorrect training principals. The biggest problem is that athletes often just don’t know what they are supposed to do in order to take their game to the next level…and keep it up. This results in many ineffective training hours with blood sweat and tears which leads to minimal improvements at best. This leads to heaps of frustration and perhaps even some potential stars quitting the the game.

The World Cup Finals

Written by Garret Smoot on July 31, 2010 – 8:56 am -

During the World Cup qualifiers and the European Championships Spain produced goals like no team I’ve ever seen before. It was never a problem as they simply knew how to find the back of the net. However, in the 2010 World Cup Spain had trouble scoring in the finals against Netherlands.

It was just a matter of time before one of their chances went in. They had the momentum and all experts were saying Spain would do it as the game went on. Finally, a red-card was drawn and that played a big role in opening up some space for Spain.

The man to find the back of the net was Andres Iniesta. It was in the 116th minute, which was obviously in overtime when he scored the winner. They had several great chances throughout the game, but just couldn’t capitalize.

It was only in the finals that Spain had trouble scoring. The entire World Cup was unlike Spain, but they still managed to find away to pull out. They only scored eight goals throughout their 2010 World Cup Championship. That’s less than one goal per game! Many teams wouldn’t be able to deal with this sort of frustration, but they kept organized and kept working together.

Use These Tips To Help You Practice Tennis Better

Written by Stacia Glosser on July 31, 2010 – 6:33 am -

If you’re thinking about taking up tennis, you should be ready to dedicate your time and effort to the sport. It requires a strong commitment, especially for those who wish to pursue it on the professional level. And in order to do so, you must be willing to spend a great time practicing to perfect your skills by making it a daily activity.

When you choose a practice area, make sure you choose a location that has a place for your personal items and that is well maintained to get the most out of your practice time.

Go through your stretches without fail. Dedicate 15 minutes before and after your tennis session to stretch your muscles. This will help to avoid muscle cramping during play.

You should select clothing that is comfortable and appropriate. Avoid clothing that fits too tightly or holds too much sweat, as this may become a distraction during the match. Tennis is about keeping your focus, and uncomfortable clothing will destroy that focus.

If you practice with a partner, start by volleying at the net, and gradually move to the baseline. As you warm up, keep increasing the difficulty of the shots, so that you can improve your reaction times.
