Defining Motorcycles – The Kawasaki GPz900R

Written by Zac Kurtsmier on August 18, 2010 – 1:01 pm -

Simillar to the race for increased power and performance of computers in the 1990s was the race to provide ever bigger and more powerful motorcycles in the 1980s, particularly the big Japanese bike manufacturers.

Honda were gaining a reputation for innovation and powerful bikes, a mantle that kawasaki wanted to overhaul, especially that Honda had just produced the VF750F with it’s 86 bhp V4 engine, and perhaps for the first time with a Japanese bike, a machine that also handled well.

In 1981, Kawasaki’s GPz1100 put the company right back at the front of the superbike class, and then in 1984 it delivered an almost knockout blow to the competition in the form of the GPz900R.

In fact, the GPz900R had a very long life as far as superbikes go, being in continuous production for fifteen years, it was that good!

Introduced at Leguna Seca in December 1983, “Pee Wee” Gleason covered the standing quarter in less than 11 seconds and took the bike to over 150mph, and handled so well that it dominated the Production TT in bog standard format.

Formula D – Are You An Enthusiast?

Written by Owen Jones on July 17, 2010 – 11:47 am -

A lot of people have never even heard of Formula D or Formula Drifting, which gives a much better clue of what this motor sport is really all about. In deed, like all competitive motor sports it takes a great deal of skill, because the vehicles concerned can be anything from 200 to 600 bhp.

The purpose is to manage your car while it slides sideways through a pre-set course in style. The more style the better, speed is secondary.

In a way, Formula D takes all the highlights out of normal racing and packs them into one competition. The US drifting scene takes the excitement a stage further though. They play two vehicles off against each other at the same time.

This makes it a great deal simpler to compare the abilities of the drivers and makes for some really exciting close driving – often the drivers’ vehicles are no more than inches apart.

This is electrifying stuff as the drivers control their cars through tremendous slides that would leave many drivers shaking. The nearest most drivers come to anywhere near this level of skidding is once a year on ice.

Quick And Effortless Steps To Cleaning Your Four Wheeler

Written by Kyle Framsburger on May 21, 2010 – 2:57 pm -

Generally a four wheeler gets very dirty after they are ridden through very muddy grounds, like in fields or woods. Debris and dirt can easily find its way in very inconvenient spots of the vehicle. While it may be true this can be quite annoying, there are easy steps to follow when trying to clean these types of vehicles.

The first step that is involved in cleaning your all terrain vehicle, or ATV for short, is to let allow it time to cool after using it and before you clean it. Never wash this type of vehicle immediately after using it. This is a very bad idea because the engine will still be very warm after it is used. Instead, just park it in a shaded area that is relatively cool so that both the engine and its parts have a chance to cool down.

After the ATV has had sufficient time to cool, use pressurized water to rinse down your item as much as you can. It is typically recommended that you begin rinsing at the top of the ATV and spray downward. Make certain that you spray both the front and back areas of the vehicle.

When we a see a car or a van, one word comes pops up in our head: four wheeler. Humans have always tried to achieve progress in all fields. In the transport system too, we are not behind. The first cars were made a very long time ago, but a concrete model was born in the eighteenth century.

The first ones usually ran on steam . With time, gasoline and fuel were used to run the vehicles. This was a result of constant research and experimentation. Engineering improved and ways of simplifying the working of these objects were being found.

Even today, the thirst for knowledge and technological advancement is alive. Nowadays, we have all kinds of cars, lorries, dealing with luxury, glamor and efficiency. When making these, the needs and requirement of all types of people are considered.

Moving people from one place to another is the primary and an indispensable function of the vehicle. The rides are comfortable and problem free. The duration of travel is also less and speed is a factor. Carrying goods to their respective destination or supplying them is one more common use.

Utv, Utility Terrain Vehicle Or Just A Fancy 4×4 Vehicle Truck

Written by William Hartness on March 2, 2010 – 2:13 pm -

The intitials, UTV stand for utility terrain vehicle, not a simple 4×4 but a type that has been put together especially for rugged off road use. If you are considering a vehicle for off road exploration or fun, there are considerations you’ll need to take into account.

First of all, a 4×4 truck or all wheel drive car off of a car lot is not really an all terrain vehicle or even one that should be used in the rough country. They are fine for use on most dirt roads and for farming, but if you really want to go mudding, you. ‘ll find that you. ‘ll have to beef up a lot of parts in an off the lot 4×4. The off the lot trucks and cars are not built to really handle rough country, and usually, the first time you try to go all terrain driving with one, you ‘ll find out the hard way.

Several things can happen should you try a vehicle off the lot for off roading, either the surface is just not conquerable or the unfortunate happens and something breaks. You’ll need a vehicle that’s been specifically made for the job in order to really enjoy your off road adventure. In fact, part of the fun of off roading is preparing a vehicle that’s tough enough.

A Good Power Sports Distributor Knows Their Market

Written by Tanner Moose on February 25, 2010 – 7:44 pm -

Nobody seems to be sure exactly what the definition of power sports is. Some say they include all motorized vehicles, including go-karts. Most, however, limit it to motorcycles. Since our goal was to find a power sports distributor to recommend to our readers, we decided to stick with this narrow definition and limit our search to motorbikes.

Naturally, those at the top were the big distributors. These were mostly the brand name distributors, with Honda heading the list. Hot on Honda’s heels was Yamaha. Suzuki was there, too, but not as prominently.

We weren’t interested in promoting individual products, though. We were looking for an outlet that distributed several brands. We were hoping to find a place that gave information we could trust about all the different motorcycles and not just advertising hype from each of them.

We weren’t even dreaming of getting all our answers from the one source, but we though we could at least get an overview of many that the first time powersports motorcycle buyer might want to consider purchasing. As it turns out, there were very few of these to choose from and those that did have many brands to look at were targeting an already power sports savvy market.

Motorcycle Riding Tips For Women

Written by Tomaz Desbike on January 25, 2010 – 9:43 am -

As regards to one of the most important security aspects of motorcycle jackets for the two sexes, there is almost no difference. It would be a prejudice statement saying that the woman ride bikes slower than guys.

There are many bikers being confused on the motorcycle jackets necessary to enjoy the pleasure of this exciting vehicle. For the ladies it is a wise thing to spend money to buy a good motorcycle jacket.

Before buying a woman’s motorcycle jacket, you must ensure the quality of the seams. Is there evidence of falling stitches at regular intervals in your motorcycle jacket? Then the jacket that you are holding in your hand is of poor quality.

The seam should be uniform and even throughout the jacket. However, because the motorcycle rider is relying on the motorcycle jacket to protect against injuries caused by accidents, tolerating the bad work is simply unacceptable.

The second thing that ladies riders must be concern about, before buying motorcycle jacket is the material of the jacket. For many years, leather has been used for protection when bikers ride their motorcycles. So, I think ladies riders should consider to use motorcycle jacket that is made from leather materials. There are many motorcycle jackets for woman that are made from leather on the market place, but you need to be searching out the one suitable for you.

How To Find The Better Choices For A Youth Dirt Bike And At What Price

Written by Jim Herman on January 5, 2010 – 1:02 pm -

Buying a youth dirt bike is a big decision and one you will want to take your time making. I am currently looking for one for my teenager and I was surprised at all of the options available. I have been doing research for weeks now and I put together some of what I found to help you if you are considering making this type of purchase. These are a few of the big things you should look at.

If you are like me then one of the first things you will want to look at is safety. Safety features will play a big part in the dirt bike decision making process. If I buy anything with motor and wheels for my child I need to know they will be as safe as possible.

Helmets play a big role in safety. You should always insist that your child wear these when they are on any type of bike or motorized vehicle that they are in charge of. These help to prevent head injuries in case of an accident and most are not very expensive but you will want to get a good one. You want one that is sturdy and durable and wont break on impact.

Porsche 977

Written by Colin Jones on November 29, 2009 – 9:36 am -

A new Porsche 911 is always intriguing because it’s exciting to see how after more than 40 years of development the Porsche team still manages to bring alterations and advancements to this iconic exemplar.

The new 997 combines the silky contemporary appearance of the 996 series with the popular retro styling of the older 911’s. The front end is completed with round lights and separate parking/fog/indicator lights. This modification, combined with wider hips resembles the last of the air-cooled 911’s, the 993. Other changes in the body shell are the new door handles, wing mirrors and the trendy cut of the rear wings into the bumper/lights.

Even if the 997 looks a lot like the previous model, the 996, the new car is actually 38mm wider which creates a more forceful look. With each new model introduced, Porsche has attempted to lessen the drag co-efficient helping the 911 slide through the air more effectively thus increasing performance. The same thing has been done with the new car, and if we compare the 993 Cd of 0.34 to the 997`s 0.28, we can see how far the aerodynamic game has moved on. The latest body shell and rear wing combine with new under body paneling to also offer improved levels of down force for this latest generation of Porsche’s finest.

The New Aston Martin Rapide – The Ultimate Driving Experience

Written by Anika Woods on November 24, 2009 – 3:17 am -

When Aston Martin is designing a car, they usually based on its core values. They strive to create models that are powerful and stylish without compromising their character. The market has been introduced to the first ever four door sports car. The Aston Martin Rapide is the ultimate driving experience for up to four adults.

The car is usually associated with the racer horses that are both elegant and strong. The Rapide Aston Martin has been able to capture that essence beautifully. It comes with a low stance that gives it the ability to exude power. It also has muscular haunches in the rear section that gives off a feeling of power on its underbody.

Aston Martin Rapide is a unique sports car because it comes with four ’swan wing’ door and not the normal two doors. The doors can be opened at an angle that makes accessibility easy and also prevents the doors from colliding with each other. This sports car has a fresh couple-like design that is created by the low roof line and others distinct features like the lights. When a Rapide Aston Martin is on the road one cannot help but notice it due to its unique and strong features.
