Elite Cruises

Written by Owen Jones on March 9, 2010 – 3:54 pm -

Vacationing on a cruise liner is rightly considered to be elite and luxurious. It is certainly the best type of vacation that I have ever had. The luxury far surpasses staying in a five star hotel. On the other hand, it is like an elite all inclusive holiday, because once on board, all the entertainment and all your food is free. Alcoholic drinks must be paid for, but then they are duty free.

If you have never been on a cruise before you really must try it. I would not recommend it as a family vacation, but I have seen families on cruises. Cruising might suit a family with older children or you might find a cruise which is planned with children in mind. However, in my experience, your average cruiser is over 50 and married.

I know that they do 18-30 cruises and all kinds of themed cruises, but if you just go on a standard cruise, most of your fellow passengers will be older. Many of them are celebrating something too – retirement, Golden Wedding Anniversary, 70th birthday, that sort of thing. These people want a peaceful time and do not really want children running around and jumping in and out of the pool. Dinner can be late and the evening’s entertainment is not child orientated either. If you want to take children, look for a specialty cruise.

The Luxury Of A Caribbean Cruise

Written by Owen Jones on February 27, 2010 – 2:03 pm -

People work harder these days than ever before. If not physically harder then longer hours and we are entitled to a break from that once in a while. The majority of us go on holiday and we look forward to it months in advance and we plan for it even further ahead. Where do you like to go or what do you like to do? I personally prefer to go on a cruise and a Caribbean cruise is a good choice.

People believe a cruise, specially a Caribbean cruise as being expensive, and cruise operators want to maintain that elite image, but I see the cruise as being an up-market all inclusive holiday. In all probability, it is the original all inclusive holiday, because once you walk up and off that gang plank, everything aside from drinks is free. Everything and everything is first class hotel style too! We are not talking pizza and chips here, but five or six course meals and five or six times a day.

Avoiding Sun Damage With Sunscreens

Written by James Fraksburg on February 25, 2010 – 4:57 pm -

Years ago the fashionable trend was to get a rich, dark tan. Baby oil was a favorite to use to get a good tan. No real thought was given to the possibility of a tan causing any problems. Fortunately, in our world today, almost everyone is aware of the dangers of getting a tan. An excellent way to protect yourself is to use effective sunscreens.

If used properly, sunscreens are an effective way to get protection from the sun. The sun rays that cause the most damage are UVB and UVA rays. UVB rays usually cause a damage that is readily noticeable like a rash or sunburn. UVA do not show these signs but are just as bad for causing sun damage.

Sun protection can be in the form of lotions, ointments, sprays, waxes and creams. Some parts of the body are best protected with different forms, so be sure to use one that gives the best protection. All types of sun protection should have an SPF rating on the container. Usually, the higher the number, the better their protection. An SPF of at least thirty is recommended. In some instances, even higher numbers might best. For protection against both UVB and UVA rays a formula called a broad spectrum should be used.

Which Swimming Pool Cleaners Work For You

Written by James Spellman on February 7, 2010 – 11:23 am -

Swimming pool cleaners are available for those who need to clean their pool regularly. You can hire someone to come and clean the pool for you. Find an experienced company to do this. Ask your friends with swimming pools if they use a service and if they are happy with it. Thankfully when it comes to swimming pools Covina had a ton that need work.

You need a reliable company that uses the proper amount of chemicals. You do not want to be burned by the chemicals because they use to much. But you want your water to stay sanitary also.

Of course hiring a company to do this is not cheap. But it is one of the costs of having a pool. But you can also look at doing it yourself. You can buy an automatic swimming pool cleaner. This is a sort of robot that cleans the pool of debris. If your pool is near trees then you know about debris. You need to always pull out leaves and dirt from the tree on a regular basis. So if you are looking at a robot of this sort you need to find one that picks up leaves and dirt.

The Story Of Shorts

Written by Alexander Stone on February 5, 2010 – 12:22 pm -

Shorts as we know are a one piece garment used to cover part of the legs and the pelvic area. It is held up either by tying a string or elastic. The length can vary according to the need. Shorts can be worn as an outer or inner garment. The name shorts were given because it is a shorter version of long pants.

In the U.K the term short trousers are used to describe trousers that have been shortened. In American English the term short pants is an equivalent to short trousers. In Australia they can be known as “stubbies”. In England the word shorts means, sport shorts, or casual shorts. If you really go into terminology, then it can get even more confusing, shorts can also refer to under wear in some countries, boxer shorts can mean the same thing.

There was a time when shorts were worn strictly by boy’s up to a certain age group. When they reached a certain age and height they started to wear longer pants or trousers. Women did not wear shorts. If men wore shorts then it was seen as being immature.
Before they were called shorts in America they were called knee pants.

Types Of Swimming Pool Cleaners

Written by Jay Berg on January 30, 2010 – 4:58 pm -

When it comes to maintaining swimming pools Covina pools can be a full time job, especially when the pool is located near trees or in a location where the weather produces a lot of wind. Pools are excellent areas for entertaining, hanging out with the family, or just enjoying a relaxing swim alone. In order to keep pools in great working order, it is necessary to take a look at swimming pool cleaners when purchasing a pool.

The type of pool cleaner that will work best for you is determined by a few different factors; the size of pool you have, how often it will need to be cleaned, the amount of effort you want to put into the cleaning process, and how much money you have budgeted for this purchase. The descriptions below are for various types of pool cleaners that can be found for sale today.

Skimmers are for all Types of Pools- By catching the dirt and debris before it can sink to the bottom, this pool cleaner makes it much easier to maintain water clarity. It is easy to hook this skimmer directly to the existing filtration system of the pool. This will enable the skimmer to suck up the floating dirt and debris, then it will send it into the filtration system. When this debris sets on top of the surface for a long enough period of time, it will then sink and become even harder to clean out.

Why People Have To Buy Sunscreens

Written by Jake Zertosky on January 27, 2010 – 11:11 am -

A crucial part of skin care is using sunscreen. There are lots of brands of sunscreens on the market today. They fight harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun and protect against cancer and sunburn. Another concern is premature aging.

The rays that are cancer causing are UVB and UVA rays. Skin cancer is the number one form of cancer in the U. S. Today, with over a million cases reported every year. UVR damages the layers of skin and dries it out, and repeated exposures can cause liver spots. The skin’s supple appearance is compromised.

Sunscreens with a skin protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher will do the best job protecting against the sun’s harmful rays. Many moisturizers and after shave lotions contain sunscreen and are good enough for every day protection.

Sun damage can harm the skin in more ways than one, causing premature sagging, wrinkles, and aging. The damage can’t be seen on the surface but lurks underneath. The skin can appear weathered and older than it should with too much exposure.

Why Is It Really Important To Use Sunscreens?

Written by Phil Zertisky on January 27, 2010 – 7:03 am -

The simple answer to that is everybody! Sure, there are different types of skin. Some people’s skin is extremely sensitive to the sun and will burn easily and never tan. Some will burn a lot and tan a little. Of course there are those whom we envy: those who rarely burn and immediately tan. One would think that those people whose skin is naturally insensitive to the sun need not worry about wearing sunscreens. But this is not true. Even people who get fewer sunburns can develop melanoma, the most common form of skin cancer. Everyone who is exposed to the sun is at risk.

Why? The sun’s rays consist of two types of hazardous ultra-violet rays, UVA and UVB. The UVB rays are the ones that cause the sunburn. Of course with each sunburn a person gets, his or her chances of skin cancer are increased. That is not the only danger. There are also the UVA rays to consider. These rays do not cause burning but they do penetrate deeper into the skin, affecting the body’s immune system and stifling how it combats cancer. Both kinds of UV rays do their part in increasing cancer risks.

A Stationary Lap Pool Makes Exercise Fun

Written by Ned D'Agostino on January 22, 2010 – 3:25 pm -

Swimming is a great way to exercise. The whole body gets a workout in a gentle manner, and you have fun while exercising. You get both types of exercise – resistance and cardiovascular workout at the same time. There is little chance of your hurting yourself in this form of exercise.

The simple objection to swimming as an exercise is the inconvenience. You just come home from work, all bushed out. Then your spouse reminds you that you have to go to the swimming pool for your prescribed exercise. Groan! Even if the pool were in the neighborhood, you know how it feels to go out at all? And woe betide if it’s storming or snowing! If only you had a swimming pool at home!

Well, now you can have a swimming pool at home. That too at just a fraction of the cost of a regular pool! It’s called a stationary lap pool, and it simulates a stream flowing past you. You get in and swim against the flow. So although you’re swimming, the action of the current keeps you there in one place as though you were stationary. Hence the name.
