What You Need To Know About Buying Women’s Skis
Written by Mike Paul on August 27, 2010 – 9:55 am -If you are serious about taming the snow, picking the right skis is critical. If you are just getting into skiing, you may have seen women’s skis advertised and you may be wondering if these are right for you. There are many things that you need to think about when you’re shopping and learning what makes women’s models more suitable is an important part of that shopping process.
In the beginning, skis for women were often just built the same as men’s skis and used different decorative elements to make them look different. There are still skis which are like this however there has been a movement towards redesigning skis to take into account the differences in physique between men and women.
Women tend to have smaller muscle mass than most men. Because of this, they can do better on skis which have been designed to be lighter in weight and have a softer feel than those designed for men. Because we move differently, women can benefit from a ski design that puts the boot further forward of center. This can assist us when we try and turn on the slopes.

An Introduction To Snowboard Packages
Written by Mitchell Tatler on August 22, 2010 – 12:34 pm -For people who are new to the sport of snowboarding, choosing the right gear can be a little confusing. Snowboard packages can be a great way to simplify the process and get you on the hill faster.
While buying the right gear will help ensure a hassle free time on the hill, choosing the wrong gear can ruin an expensive day on the hill with pain and frustration. Some companies make equipment that will work only with other equipment from that specific company. Buying a package from an experienced retailer will ensure that all of your equipment is compatible and fits well.
Retail stores offer discounts on package deals to seasonal products that have to be sale priced later. Packages include board, boots and bindings and there is usually some flexibility in style and colors available. The ability of the rider will determine the level of gear needed, with more experience corresponding to higher end equipment.
Shops selling the gear are happy to sell packages as they move more inventory that otherwise might become next years sale item. To do this they’ll often offer freebies to go along with the package such as gloves or goggles, or even lift tickets.

Snowshoes And Fitness In The Snow
Written by Robert Jensen on August 14, 2010 – 4:25 am -There are several great outdoor activities to do in the winter, but the fastest growing activity is snowshoeing. Unlike skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing does not require lots of coordination and physical ability. One just needs to be able to walk in the snow to snowshoe.
Besides being easy to learn, walking around with your snowshoes on is a great workout. It is similar to walking in shallow water. A single step is easy, but when you add up all the steps you take, it ends up being a good workout. You can get your legs in shape fast.
Snowshoeing is safe as long as you don’t venture off into uncharted territory. Make sure you know your limits. Start with a short hike to get to know your new equipment. You will find that your new snowshoes offer a lot of stability on the snow (not so much on ice) and that a good cardiovascular workout can be completed in a rather short period of time.

What To Remember When Buying Skiwear
Written by John Marsh on August 2, 2010 – 12:56 pm -When you are buying skiwear, remember that it must not only look good, but also protect you from the elements. Skiing is generally a safe sport, but never forget that when the weather changes suddenly you could find yourself stuck on the mountain in very bad conditions. Likewise if a friend or yourself is injured you could end up spending a few hours standing still on a cold mountain slope waiting for mountain rescue. In poor quality clothes, you will soon get wet and cold.
Be sure to buy a ski outfit that allows you a full range of movement. Try your skiwear on over a layer of thermal underwear, along with a second layer consisting of a light jumper and light trousers. In very cold conditions, this is how you will be dressed on the slopes. Once you are fully dressed, close all zips then bend over and touch your toes. Wrap your arms around yourself, if your suit pulls anywhere it is too small for you.

Where To Look For Deals On Skis
Written by Mike Paul on July 30, 2010 – 11:22 am -Skiing is a great way to have fun during the winter. Persons that live near the slopes are privileged to have access to a great winter recreational sport. When the weather is too bad to do anything else is often the time that skiing is its best. Your local ski resort may offer season lift passes for persons living locally. Then if you find good deals on skis, this can be an affordable sport.
One place you may find some great deals is at your community ski swap. You may find skis that are more than adequate for your needs at a very low price.
The problem with purchasing skis for children is that they continue to grow. Used skis make the best option for them and they can be traded each season to get the skis that are the correct size for the new season. Many times you will be able to sell last years skis and purchase this years skis with the proceeds.
Adults may be able to find skis that are in very good shape that have been used for one or more seasons that are being sold because the previous owner wants to upgrade to this years model.

Getting Affordable And Compatible Equipment With A Snowboard Package
Written by Sean Prentice on July 24, 2010 – 4:22 am -Rental snowboarding equipment is fine when a person snowboards once or twice a year, however if someone is hoping to hit the slopes more than that they should really plan on investing in personal equipment. There are several reasons why snowboarders are better off with their own equipment rather than rental stuff. The biggest perk is using equipment is that all of the equipment, especially the boots, fits properly. Since snowboarding equipment is expensive, snowboarders should look into purchasing a snowboard package, which generally includes the board, bindings, and boots. The advantage with the packages is that they are usually less expensive than purchasing the same items individually.
When a person decides it’s time to purchase their own snowboarding equipment, the first thing they need to look at is the boots and the bindings. Before purchasing the boots, the snowboarder needs to consider what type of snowboarding they are going to be doing.
Snowboarder should never allow them to think that all snowboarding boots are the same. The biggest difference is that some boots are hard, and have a heel holding that is a hard shell whereas soft boots have a heel holding which is created by a soft bladder that fits inside of the boot. Soft boots are the most popular choice amongst snowboarders right now because they are flexible and are comfortable when the person is walking as well as when they are on their snowboard.

Running All Throughout The Year To Get In Good Shape Even During The Cold Days Of Winter Months
Written by James Woods on June 14, 2010 – 8:21 am -Running year-round is a great way to keep in shape, but the different seasons dictate that you must approach it in different ways depending on the weather conditions. For instance, running in winter is quite different from running during the summer. Here are a few guidelines to follow while running in the winter months that will keep you prepared for the changing conditions.
1. First, always be sure to dress properly. This means that you should wear layers of clothing to keep warm and the clothes should be bright or dark in color.
Avoid wearing white clothing in the winter. It can cause you to blend in with the snow, which can obscure you from the vision of drivers much like dark clothing does at night.
2. Get the right pair of shoes. The wet conditions of winter mean that you’ll want shoes with a good tread that will keep a solid grip on the ground. You may even want to go the extra mile and invest in an anti-slip attachment for your shoes to increase traction.
3. At the beginning of your run, be sure that you’re running into the wind. By the end of your run you’ll have the wind at your back, which won’t make you as cold.
