Get Outside During The Summertime : Engage In Table T Tennis Outdoors
Written by Frank Froggatt on February 8, 2010 – 3:59 pm -For the most part, table tennis is a sport that is considered to be solely for the indoors. After all it is a game that was designed to play inside. Have you have given any thought to playing ping pong outside though?
These days there are a lot of fans of ping pong enjoying a game the sport outdoors.. If you try it you will notice without a doubt that there are enormous differences from playing it outside and inside. In indoor table tennis, the environment is controlled. The light inside is perfect and you never have to deal with issues like the wind. When you set yourself up for a game of ping pong outdoors, you are setting yourself up to have to deal with the wind fighting against your accuracy and the sun shining into your eyes causing momentary blindness.
The only time that playing ping pong outside is really doable is during the summer. Why? The reason for this is that the weather can be to difficult to play in with the wind and other foul weather that you get in the other seasons.
The wind can easily effect the fight of a ping pong ball because it is very light weight. The occasional breeze is not something that you have to worry about and it is even welcomed to add to the fun, but stronger winds can seriously detract from the game play. No matter what type of player you are indoors, playing outside will really make you have to adjust your game.
Playing outdoors in the summer months is also very beneficial. You get to enjoy the benefits of all of the fresh air that you would miss out on if you were stuck playing inside all day. If it is a really hot day and the sun becomes an issue try finding a tree that you can play under in its shade.
When you go to set up the table outdoors, it is absolutely essential that you make sure to place it on a flat surface, if it can be concrete that is all the better. Although enjoying a game on a grass surface is something that sounds very nice, setting up a table on a grass surface could very well disrupt the game as chances are the surface of the table would not be flat.
If this is a past time that you are serious about, then you might seriously think about getting an outdoor table tennis table which will come outfitted with wheels and have a surface that is impervious to the elements. Having a table that is made to handle harsh weather environments and made with the intention of being moved around a lot will make it stand the test of time a lot better than would a table that is meant to be indoors. However, you need to remember that although it can withstand the harsh environment, you shouldn’t leave the table outdoors as it can also degrade.
