Where Does David Beckham Stand?
Written by Tony Garrison on September 1, 2010 – 10:38 am -Fabio Capello made the announcement that David Beckham’s international career has come to an end, but he wants David to get one last run in before it’s over. David Beckham has been playing for the England National Soccer Team for more than 10 years. He’s not only been a great player on the pitch, but he’s been an icon for the team.
David Beckham is currently the leader in all time caps for England’s National Team. He’s made 115 appearances for the squad throughout his years. He missed this previous World Cup in South Africa as a player because of an injury, but they still brought him along because of his influence on the current players.
As Beckham gets back to full health, it doesn’t seem like England will need Beckham to qualify for the European Championships in 2012. However, Capello is doing the right thing by giving him a chance to player another international game. The fans will love it!
Capello told the public that he would be bringing Beckham to play, so he can say goodbye. He’s hoping that Beckham can do this at Wembley as it’s the perfect place to say goodbye. Capello also made it very clear that he won’t be using Beckham in any competitive games.

Should We Let Shoeless Joe Into Cooperstown?
Written by Andy Starr on August 15, 2010 – 6:37 am -Should they lift his ban even after his death? If so will they let him into the hall of fame? So many questions surround this possibly misunderstood baseball legend. Shoeless Joe got his name from what is believed to a blister on his feet from a new pair of cleats. So he took them off and played in his socks throughout the ball game, resulting in Shoeless Joe Jackson. A man who just wanted to play the game of baseball and was banned from it.
Shoeless Joe has some very impressive stats over his- year career. He is known for playing with the White Sox, but played with a total of 3 other teams, having played with ith the Athletics, Naps, and Indians for half a season. He posted very good standard stats that should alone be hall of fame worthy.
Some of these numbers include a .356 career batting average, 785 RBIs, and 168 career triples. The power was low, but this came in an era where lower home run totals were more commonplace.
Well maybe not H.O.F. worthy from looking at those right away, but he seemingly hit for average. Now I’ll post his advanced numbers, which are pretty impressive.

The Vince Carter Slam Dunk Competition
Written by Mark Stein on July 22, 2010 – 8:13 am -Vince Carter has, for a number of years now, been probably the most widely known and respected brands in the leagues of pro basketball. Much of this celebrity started out back in 2000 with the world famous Vince Carter Slam Dunk Competition.
The Slam Dunk Contest is one of the most well-known NBA competitions and the crowd was utterly amazed by Vince Carter’s amazing first performance back in the year 2000 when he made the first 360 ever, even windmilling the ball in the process. Leaving everyone else completely amazed by his performance, in particular as it was his 1st attempt at a Slam Dunk Competition, the game has gone down in history since as one of the best times in pro basketball.
The historic year 2000 Vince Carter Slam Dunk Contest was as well Vince’s very first attempt at that special tournament, and was perhaps much better known for the fact that Vince Carter made the first reverse full 360 ever. Plus, but he also windmilled the ball.
The truth is, the show was so well-known and widely respected, that it continues to be widely mentioned to this very day and almost any search on YouTube will show a good deal of professional and fan made movies dedicated to this impressive feat.

A List Of Sportspersons Who Have Gained Fame And Fortune From Playing Soccer
Written by Norman Higgins on July 19, 2010 – 12:06 pm -Soccer is famous throughout the world as a game of skill and excitement. It is full of twists and turns and is not a very easy game to predict.
There are so many people that have tried to emulate the great players and go on to make a professional career in this game. Unfortunately it is not as easy as it looks to be able to do just that.
Here are just a few of those that did manage to succeed on the field of play.
The Brazilian Maestro has to be the first person to mention. Edison Pele was just a 15 year old boy when he made his first class world cup debut for Brazil. This was a feat in itself and one in which he also managed to score two goals. He also went on to become known the king of soccer and was elected as the athlete of the Century according to the International Olympic Committee.
Classed as probably one of the most influential people in the twentieth Century as reported in Tim Magazine, Pele went on to score an amazing amount of goals in his 25 year playing career.

The Biggest Athletes Of The Past One Hundred Years
Written by Fred Young on July 15, 2010 – 1:38 pm -Considering that just about none of us were alive at the turn of the 20th century, it’s hard to write this article without at least a trace of bias.
When we didn’t live to see the impact these athletes made, we can’t fully appreciate what they did for the sports world. Still, their legends have been chronicled and it’s clear that many men during the 20th century were just as big in the world as the current stars of our favorite sports.
With that said, I’m going to do my best to list five of the athletes who I believe had profound impacts on the world and within their sport. Feel free to chime in with your comments if you disagree with these. Here goes.
The first person I’ll mention is a baseball player whose impact could never be felt today like it was a century ago. Ty Cobb was one of the most influential baseball players in baseball history, and is largely responsible for the sport’s popularity.
Muhammad Ali. This man brought boxing to its height and electrified a world of fans. He’s still talked about every single day as the best boxer of all-time.

A Profile On LeBron James Girlfriend
Written by Tom Poorker on July 13, 2010 – 12:24 pm -The name Savannah Brinson might sound familiar to you if you have been paying especial attention to celebrity news recently, but if it does not then you do not have to worry too much. She is better known as LeBron James girlfriend.
The player is called King James by his supporters due to his prowess on the field. He and his girlfriend have been together for quite a long time and as it turns out they were together in high school. They work together in other aspects of their life as well and play a leading role in the LeBron James Family Foundation.
The partners have two sons. The eldest is LeBron James Junior and his younger brother is called Bryce Maxiumus. They are three years apart with the eldest having been born in 2004 and Bryce in 2007. There are now beliefs that the couple is expecting another child.
Those who go out with celebs will tell you that there can be a lot of pressure on them to make sure that they portray a certain image. But there is not actually that much about this couple on the internet and in the tabloids. They only tend to make the pages if they have been to some sort of function. It would be interesting to find out if they make sure that this happens or if it is just the way their luck has run so far.

Oklahoma City Thunder 2010 Outlook
Written by Ron Dempster on July 6, 2010 – 1:12 pm -The Oklahoma City are one of the weakest teams in the NBA, and playing in the Western Conference doesn’t exactly help the team’s cause. Despite this, there’s a loyal base of fans in Oklahoma City, happy to see their team play whenever they have the chance to.
Most of the source of any excitement in Oklahoma City, despite the team’s struggles, has to do with Kevin Durant. Additionally, the Thunder are still the new team in town in Oklahoma City, so the idea of a major sports franchise there is till a gift to the city’s residents. It’s the first of its kind.
Having formerly been the Sonics in Seattle, the basketball lovers in Seattle are still mourning the loss of their Sonics, but they may have to wait a while before they’ll get another NBA franchise. As for fans in Oklahoma City, they’ll be happy to have their Thunder, good or bad.
In Oklahoma City, fans are happy because of the presence of Kevin Durant. This is a player with all of the tools to be a top-3 player in the league, and he’s definitely headed down that path if his past two seasons are any indicator.

Why The World Cup Tournament Has Been So Lackluster Thus Far
Written by Philip Stevens on July 1, 2010 – 9:02 am -While the World Cup this year may end up being the most watched event in the history of television (estimates say 800 million people are watching), I have found the tournament so far disappointing. What happened to all the goals? Here are some theories.
It’s unfortunate that the tournament has been a let down so far. You can’t tell me otherwise. Most games have been ties, usually 1 goal a piece, or a team has won 1-0. Call me old fashioned, but I want to see some goals! There are many possible reasons for this drought in scoring.
In this World Cup, FIFA has introduced a new soccer ball that is supposed to be faster and more unpredictable with its trajectory. Maybe it is giving players too much unpredictability.
There’s no doubt that part of the “problem” is defenses have been playing very well. Communication on the defensive end has been improved for most teams.
Is it possible that the vuvuzelas, also known as the terrible noise making horns, are distracting the players? As an American watch the game, I know it is distracting me.

What’s Gone Down In The 2010 National Basketball Association Western Conference Playoffs
Written by Arthur Stevens on June 29, 2010 – 10:16 am -For the NBA Western Conference Playoffs, this has been a tumultuous year. While some series has been decided in four games and some in seven, most of these series have been exhilarating. If you haven’t been paying attention, here’s a brief analysis of what’s happened so far.
In the first round, the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Laker’s coach Phil Jackson got this series off to a heated start by making cheap shots about the way that Thunder star Kevin Durant plays the game, insisting he lives at the foul line.
Being the defending champions, the Lakers earned the right to be confident going into the playoffs, but it would not be an easy path to the second round. The Thunder took the Lakers to 7 games, ultimately losing , but letting the world know that they will be a contender for years to come.
In another first round matchup the Denver Nuggets squared off against the Utah Jazz. The Nuggets were without Coach Karl, which may or may not be the reason they couldn’t pull it together. In the end, the Jazz beat the Nuggets in six games.
