A Fierce Matchup In The Works

Written by Fred Slattery on March 3, 2010 – 10:04 am -

Every generation of football sees the emergence and prevalence of a few elite quarterbacks. In the 80s and 90s, we saw the likes of Montana, Elway, Marino, and Aikman dominating the sport. Currently, quarterbacks like Manning, Favre, Brady, and Brees are clearly the best in the game.

Very rarely do we see two of the best quarterbacks in the sport facing off against one another in the Super Bowl. This year, the football world will be privileged enough to enjoy such an opportunity. Not only is this the case, but many believed that both teams were tops in the league through the course of the season.

Both the Saints and Colts won their first 14 games, leading many to speculate as to whether these teams would go undefeated through the course of the entire season.

Now, they have a chance to showcase their abilities once more in a game that is sure to result in a very high final score. This will be an offensive battle at its finest in Miami.

While both of them lost a few games during the last few weeks of the season, many would attribute this to the fact that they no longer needed to win more games in order to secure home field advantage.

The 1996-97 Steve Nash Rookie Card

Written by Karl Merigue on March 3, 2010 – 9:17 am -

Out of the entire history of the NBA, only 11 people have won Most Valuable Player awards multiple times. Steve nash rookie card is one of these people. He stands at six-foot-three and weighs less than 200 pounds.

Arriving from Santa Clara to join the Phoenix Suns in 96, he stood overshadowed by Jason Kidd. In his first two seasons, he averaged three assists and less than 10 points a game. There was only 11 games that he started in within this time.

In 1998, he was traded off to Dallas. While playing in Dallas, his game took a turn to all-star status. In 2004, listed as a free agent, he decided to go back with the Suns. The Suns now, would and could not imagine playing without him.

In 2004-05 and 2005-06, Steve Nash grabbed hold of the MVP title. A lot of this accounted to the improvement in his game. He became much better at layups and three pointers, which seemed to have a lot to do with Mike D’Antoni.

Additionally, it served to make the Sun’s one of the top NBA teams. In the first half of 2006-07, his scoring got even better. Despite all of this, his steve nash rookie card remains way undervalued compared to other greats of his time.

Dirk Nowitzki Girlfriend Drama Ends In Her Arrest

Written by Jim Mechant on March 1, 2010 – 8:31 am -

There has been a lot of talk about Dirk Nowitzki girlfriend rumors. The truth of the matter is no one knows if anything is true or not about the speculations. Dirk has chosen to keep his mouth closed about his girlfriend drama, but the press has led us to believe different things about this dilemma.

Apparently Dirk Nowitzki whom is a Dallas Mavericks star was actually dating a woman by the name of Cristal Taylor. Taylor is honestly nothing special; she is simply an ordinary woman that has been seen around the star from time to time.

Nowitzki was head over heels for 37 year old Taylor. He proposed to her with a $250, 000 ring. The couple was supposed to tie the knot in the near future. However it seems after the star had asked Taylor to marry him a lot of skeltons began to seep from the woman’s closet.

A lot of Dirks friends were pressuring the star to get a background check done on Taylor. She was always extremely secretive about her past and things she had done while she was younger. Dirk decided that a back ground check would not be such a bad idea.

The Truth About Mark McGwire’s Revelation

Written by Brandon Thompson on February 25, 2010 – 8:51 pm -

Recently, Mark McGwire came out with an admission that many people were shocked to hear. He had taken steroids from 1989 through the end of his career, despite his unwillingness to speak on the issue during a congressional hearing five years ago.

Most baseball players are thought to have used steroids in order to pump up their offensive stats, thereby securing more valuable contracts in the process. In McGwire’s case, things were different. He simply wanted to recover from any injuries in less time than he’d otherwise be able to.

You may remember that the beginning of McGwire’s career was marked by many injuries that saw him missing the majority of some seasons as a result. His potential was never realized because of this, despite the fact that he averaged more home runs per at bat than any other player of his time.

What followed in the years to come was exactly what one would expect. He was healthier through the majority of the remainder of his career, and his offensive production was exceptional.

The pinnacle of this all took place in 1998, when McGwire shattered the old home run record set by Roger Maris, hitting 70 home runs in a season. The baseball world was amazed, and McGwire was the toast of the baseball world.

A Few Things to Consider In Selecting Your Animals in FarmVille Game

Written by Caroline Page on February 23, 2010 – 5:31 pm -

There are an ever-growing number of animals that you can choose to keep on your farm in FarmVille. It can be a lot of fun to collect as many as you can of the ones you like, and animals add a lot to your farm. They also provide some revenue, although the amount varies a great deal with the type of animal you’re collecting from. There are certainly plenty of reasons to keep all of these animals, but they do take up space. In order to make sure that you’re not sacrificing too many of your resources for the animals you’re supporting, you should consider a few things when you’re deciding which animals to keep.

Space Savers

On your farm, space is always at a premium. That’s why it’s a good idea to focus on raising the animals that will take up the least amount of space. This list include the obvious smaller animals, like ducks and bunnies, but also a couple of others you might not expect. As long as you have enough neighbors (or enough farm cash) you can purchase dairy farms to keep your cows in. These hold up to 20 cows (or 19 cows and 1 bull) each, and you can buy as many as you want.

The Interesting Return of Justine Henin

Written by Casey Newman on February 5, 2010 – 12:14 pm -

Just a year and a half ago, Justine Henin ruled the WTA tennis tour, and many were calling her the best women’s player of our generation. It seemed like no one could stop the diminutive but powerful Henin.

Having sat atop the world rankings for a couple of years, Henin surprised many tennis fans when she retired at the very young age of just 25 years old in 2008. Many wondered why she would call it quits when she was at the top of her game.

According to Henin, she had grown tired of all of the training and traveling that came with the grueling lifestyle of being a pro tennis player. As a result, she thought that a retirement would be the best personal move.

This would allow her to focus on both her charity work and her tennis school, as she took pride in training the many talented young kids who came to her school.

There was definitely a void in the world of women’s tennis. The number ones of the world weren’t truly the best in the minds of some fans, because they wondered if Henin would still be at the top of the ranks. Out of nowhere, some wishes were granted a few months ago when she said she’d return to the sport.

The Hand of Thierry Henry

Written by Vincent Hu on January 29, 2010 – 2:22 pm -

Thierry Henry is a free man. Many fans believe Thierry Henry deserved to be penalized for his hand ball that secured a spot for France in the World Cup and sent Ireland home ending their dreams of playing in South Africa.

I was rooting for Ireland in this match up. As unfair as it is, I believe the decision by FIFA is the right decision. I’ve had a few debates with some friends recently and there are some comparisons that we’ve made that really make it clear to us.

Let’s compare other sports, perhaps basketball. If Michael Jordan fouled a player (not flagrant) in a championship game, but the refs missed the call on this game winning opportunity I can guarantee there would be no debate if Jordan should be punished. There’s a simple reason for this – it’s the refs job to make the calls!

According to FIFA’s rules, they couldn’t find anything that would give them a legal right to fine Henry. Basically, they agreed that a hand ball is NOT worthy of any sort of fine. The refs should face a fine before Henry should – it’s their job to make the calls.
