Long Torso Swimsuits, Fit And Performance Without Sacrificing Style
Written by Branden E. Green on July 28, 2010 – 11:51 am -Not everyone is proportioned the same and finding the right fit for your body shape and size is not always easy and the world of swim fashions is certainly no exception. Suits today are offered in a wide variety of styles from monokinis to bikinis and one piece suits but they are not all designed to fit every type of woman.
Those with a long torso sometimes have difficulty finding a suit that fits correctly and don’t necessarily want to purchase a bikini just because it eliminates this worry. Manufacturers and designers are beginning to take into account all body shapes and proportions when designing their lines and the long torso form is now being considered more often.
Once a specialty item, the long torso swimsuit is now more readily available in swim shops, boutiques and online stores. No longer just offered in basic styles and colors there are now a wide array of choices from bright colors to bold prints and everything in between. Many models now offer more features and options than ever before so choices are no longer limited but are abundant. Let’s examine a few different options and styles for you to choose from when shopping for your swimsuit.

Inground Lap Pools: A Great Workout
Written by Ryan McCall on July 26, 2010 – 10:37 am -When thinking about swimming pools, most people envision the elaborate design and landscaping associated with hotel and resort pools. While pools certainly can be used for recreational purposes a growing number of people are recognizing swimming for its exercise benefits. More and more pools are being built with fitness in mind.
A large reason why so many pools are built with fitness in mind is that swimming is a highly effective form of exercise. Not only is it an aerobic exercise comparable to walking or even running, but it is less stressful on joints because the water supports the body and reduces the force of impacts. To facilitate swimming for fitness, special pools have been designed, such as above-ground or inground lap pools.
A lap pool is very different from other swimming pools in that it is specifically designed for people seeking exercise and fitness by concentrating on swimming laps. Most lap pools are rectangular instead of utilizing the curvier designs favored by recreational pool owners. Plus, lap pools can be built as narrow as just one swimming lane.
Swimming is an aerobic activity that improves overall fitness without stressing joints. Nearly anyone at any level of ability can benefit from this exercise for improved health and relieving stress.

Understanding The History Of Life Jackets And Their Various Purposes
Written by Drew Hayden on July 25, 2010 – 9:21 am -A life jacket is made in order to help people float, or keep their heads from going under water wherever there are bodies of water or swimming pools. They are found near pools, lakes, boats, planes, ships and are located with in easy reach of passengers and crew to be used in case of an emergency or to wear as a extra layer of protection.
They are very important to wear when participating in water related activities, and should be automatically put on when heading out into water deeper than the head. They are built to be buoyant, which means they will float by themselves, no matter what the wearer is doing.
Life jackets are usually composed of a buoyant foamy substance and covered with a tough synthetic fiber or air filled object. They come in bright colors such as orange or red, that way they can be easily visible to rescue personnel in the event of an emergency on the water.
The earliest recorded use of life jackets point to Norwegian seamen who would use simple chunks of cork or wood that would help people float in case they were to fall overboard while at sea.

The Dangers Of Lions Mane Jellyfish Stings
Written by Kate L. Romano on July 22, 2010 – 12:13 pm -If you go near a big water reservoir you will surely notice that there are a lot of jelly-like creatures along the coast and in the water. They are called jellyfishes and are the creatures that inhabit all the oceans. But behind their beauty and attractiveness lies a danger to the health of people. Of course you can’t expect all of the jellyfishes to be dangerous, but many of them have a poisonous sting which can cause harm. But most of them are safe. One of the biggest jellyfishes known to men is the Lion’s mane jellyfish that inhabits the Pacific, Arctic and Atlantic oceans. The greatest Lion’s mane jellyfish found had a 2.3m cap diameter and tentacles that were 36.5 long.
However despite their big size their sting isn’t fatal. There hasn’t been a reported case in which a person has died, because of a sting from a Lion’s mane jellyfish. But of course if you get stung by such a jellyfish you should consider visiting a doctor as quickly as possible, because you will be feeling some strong pain and the place where you got stung will change its color to red.

Jellyfish – There Are Many Types
Written by Mike Zimmerman on July 22, 2010 – 10:27 am -There are many types of creatures living in seas and oceans, but it is a fact that one the most commonly seen sea creatures it the jellyfish which is also named medusa. However the term medusa should be used to point the last years of the life of the jellyfish, but medusa is the most widely spread word for jellyfish. Although jellyfishes are beautiful and attractive they may possess a threat to people due to their stinging abilities. If you touch a jellyfish you will probably be injected with venom which depending on the jellyfish may cause no pain or discomfort. However there are more deadly jellyfishes from which if you get stung you may even die of the poison running through your organism.
Jellyfishes are maybe the most attractive sea creatures. They don’t only attract with their abstract forms, but also with the variety of colors in which they’re colored. The color effect on the jellyfish is caused from the fluorescent chemicals which they have flowing through their body. Those chemicals react and cause them to be seen in different hues and colorizations depending on the given situation they’re into. Some jellyfishes use their colorizing ability to attract their own species so that they can multiply or may also use that ability to frighten enemies. The proportions of the materials that make a jellyfish is pretty strange – they are made of 10% jelly substance and 90% water and that is the reason why they’re named jellyfish. It is pretty interesting, isn’t it?

How To Prepare For Child Drowning Emergencies
Written by Karen Reader on July 12, 2010 – 9:36 am -Between 6,000 and 8,000 Americans drown every year. Children are among these victims since they are able to drown in nearly any form of water. Children can drown in large lakes, home pools or even bathtubs or small pails of water. Keep kids safe by always keeping an eye on them whenever they are around water. In order to prevent death, it is important to know how to react in case of an emergency, including preparing with first aid.
Keep in mind that a drowning kid cant call for help so be on the lookout for signs of trouble. Don’t expose yourself to danger by jumping into the water to save someone unless you happen to be a good swimmer. Its better to use a long pole or branch to reach the victim. Or you can throw a rope attached to a floating object to pull the child safely ashore.
Keep in mind A, B and C in case of a drowning incident. These letters stand for Airway, Breathing, and Circulation. If you find an unresponsive child as a result of a water accident, make sure that you call for help. While you’re waiting for help, make sure to remove the child from water and put them on a firm, flat surface.
